Alterations
Every D'Vaa garment is designed with ample alteration margin so you can achieve a tailored fit before your event. Here is everything you need to know.
Permitted Alterations
Waist & Hip Adjustments
Minor taking-in or letting-out at the waist and hips — up to 1 inch — to ensure a comfortable, confident fit.
Hemline & Length
Blouse and skirt hemlines can be adjusted within the alteration margin stitched into every garment.
Blouse Fitting
Blouse back hooks, strap width, and neckline depth can be adjusted within a reasonable range at your end.
Dupatta Pinning & Draping
Our Relationship Manager will advise on draping styles and pinning techniques suited to your outfit.
The Alteration Process
Delivered Early
Your outfit arrives 2 days before your event — giving you ample time to try it on and assess any fitting needs.
Try & Assess
Try the garment on in its entirety. Check fit at the waist, hips, hemline, and blouse. Note any areas that need adjustment.
Local Tailor
Take the garment to a trusted local tailor. Every outfit has ample alteration margin stitched in specifically for this purpose.
Alteration Cost
Alteration charges are borne by the customer and are not included in the rental fee. Typical local tailoring costs ₹200 – ₹800 depending on the city and alteration type.
Important Notes
Do not cut, tear, or permanently modify any garment. This will be treated as damage and may attract a penalty of up to 100% of the retail value.
Permanent dyeing, bleaching, or chemical treatments are strictly not permitted on any rented item.
Only work within the alteration margin provided. Alterations beyond the seam allowance that damage the garment structure will be charged accordingly.

All alterations must be reversible in nature wherever possible. Stitching should be done in a way that allows the garment to be returned to its original form.
Fitting Tips
Always try the full outfit — lehenga, blouse, and dupatta — together before going to the tailor.
Take reference images of the desired fit and share them with your tailor to avoid over-alteration.
Carry the petticoat or inner you plan to wear on the event day when trying the outfit for fitting.
For heavily embellished lehengas, ask your tailor to handle the fabric with extra care around the embroidery.
If your event is outdoors, consider a slightly longer hemline to account for uneven ground.
